OnWords & UpWords, Fri 6th Nov
Hey peeps,
It has been a little while. Hope you’re well?
Tickets are now on sale for the final OnWords and UpWords show of 2009. This show is close to my heart – but more about that in the video update next week, where you can find out why this gig is especially swish.
So don’t miss November’s show, it features singer/songwriter/producer and esteemed brother, Gavin Holligan aka Hollerzz. (picture below)

We’re running–we’re running to the edge of nothing. ” – Gavin Holligan
These are the opening lines from Gavin’s break-out new single, Faith to fly.
The track took Gavin soaring into the London finals for the Metro’s Online & Ontour competition this month, and next he’ll be touching down at OnWords & UpWords.
Listen/Dance/Sing-along to his single, Faith to Fly here.
Gavin has worked behind the boards producing and playing for the likes of
Shola Ama, Duffy, Gloria Gaynor, Daniel Bedingfield, and a string of other international acts.
He’s also the musical genius behind my forthcoming debut album. Coming sooner than you think!
Alumni of OnWords & UpWords now include singers/writers: Abimaro, Mercy, Anna Omak, Bianca Rose, Sh’maya, Jon Mann Smith and Homecut;
Plus I’ll be annoucing more special guests next week for November’s O&U.
All you need to do right now is get yourself a ticket for a fiver:

In the line-up this time we have lovely singer/songwriter Bianca Rose, the outer londonium, audio-astronaut that is John Mann Smith the jaw-dropping tones of Ms Anna Omak, who I am actually listening to right now! Think goosebumps and close-your-eyes awesomeness.
Each is an incredible writer and personal inspiration. A couple of years ago, I had the pleasure of being invited to perform at Bianca’s packed EP launch, where she rocked the joint with her acoustic charm and tales set in the capital. I met Jon on tour with PAUSE a couple of years back. The man has more pedals than the tour de France and is a sonic genius. Anna has a voice full of warm mystique and smoky serenity, not to mention her skills as a drummer and on guitar.

Swish Spins – The Experiment
Ok, so here’s the confession. Inside me there is a DJ trapped waiting to get out, I like radio, but on the real, I cant’ really find many shows I love, so here’s how it’s gonna work: From time to time I’ll post the play list here:
At the moment this is…
(1) Partly me spinning records for me, and partly me giving you the heads up on what we like sonically over here at TRANSTATIC.
(2)If you’d like to actually hear the set for yourself - holler.
(3) If enough people do (2) then we’ll put out the show, if not I’ll revert to (1:)
Session 1 (27/02/08)
Robot Rock / Oh Yeah – Daft Punk (Alive 2007)
Love Revolution – Lenny Kravitz (Love Revolution)
To know Him is to love Him – Amy Winehouse (Live session)
Wordplay – Jason Mraz (Mr A-Z.)
That’s the way of the world – Dwele (Interpretations)
1983 , Flying Lotus (1983)
The Hype, NSM – (Brownswood Bubblers)
Cryin Out – Trip Lee (If They Only Knew)
Hands Up – DJ Premier (Hip-Hop Instrumentals Vol. 3)
Brazillian Groove [Instrumental] – Jay Dee
The Chronicles (I Will Always Love H.E.R)
Not A Slave – J.R (Life By Stereo )
Every Step – Tawiah (iTunes Single of the week)
Oh My Daze!
Yes, that is correct spelling, I really meant to say ‘daze’. Such is the euphoria after this weekend’s off-the-handle celebrations for the launch of record label and my life into its 26th orbit of the calendar. Was joined by the fabulous Abimaro for a joint b’day celebration that I won’t forget in a hurry. Great people, great vibe, nuff love. Big up’s to all the acts: hang-tight Poet Michaela who soldieried it all the way down from Brum to be there. Plus James Crooke, what can I say, ”dude!”, watch out for him, had the crowd pulling up his acoustic brit pop (not something you see every day) - such a dark horse he leaves charcoal hoof prints – trust. Asah Shabazz blessed the mic with some awesome flows, including the stellar ‘better now’.
In all, a beautiful start for TRANSTATIC. Thanks for showing out e’rybody, God willing we’ll do it all again in a couple months, don’t sleep.
